Q: What do I need to know before I have my vehicle repaired?

Q: What do I need to know before I have my vehicle repaired?

A: We recommend you know the following:

  • Never drive a car that could be unsafe because of damages.
  • You are not required by law to obtain multiple estimates.
  • You have the right to go to the repair shop of your choice.
  • A car is one of your largest investments. Have it repaired properly.
  • Professional shops will explain the entire process. Ask about it.
  • Read and understand your policy. Ask your agent to explain it.

Q: How do I pick a repair facility?

A: We recommend you evaluate a repair facility based on the following:

  • Computerized Estimating Systems: assures an accurate estimate of cost and labor
  • Precision frame and unibody equipment
  • High level Customer Satisfaction (CSI) Rating
  • Guarantee/Warranty: Quality shops will guarantee their work for the life of the vehicle & include it in writing on the repair estimate/final bill

Q: Do I have to come in for an estimate?

A: Actually no. If you have a smartphone or digital camera you can email your photos directly to us at Info@DCLansing.com. Please include multiple photos of the damage, your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), as well as your contact information so we can write a preliminary estimate for you. For major damages, or a more comprehensive estimate, please stop in to see us and we can get you a written estimate and explain the repair process. Most estimates typically take fewer than 15 minutes to complete.

Q: How can you see all of the damage from just photos?

A: We can see enough to begin the claims process from photos. To get a more detailed estimate we would need to disassemble the vehicle.

Q: Can we choose Driven Collision Center instead of the shop the insurance company tells us to go to?

A: Yes, by Michigan State Law you have the right to choose your repair facility. We are glad to work with all insurance companies and will handle the majority of the claims process for you.

Q: Do you have replacement vehicles?

A: Depending on whether you have rental replacement coverage with your claim, we can provide a Driven Collision loaner vehicle, or arrange to get you an Enterprise rental vehicle here on site.

Q: Is your work guaranteed?

A: Yes, we offer a lifetime guarantee/warranty on all of our workmanship and materials. Replacement Parts are either warrantied by the manufacturer or your insurance company.

Q: What sets you apart from the other shops in your area?

A: We perform the highest quality repairs, handle all of the insurance claim work once you’ve filed a claim, and then return your car right back to you properly repaired, washed, and detailed! Not only will you be amazed at how your car looks after repair, our customer service staff will ensure you the quickest, most convenient auto collision repair experience you’ve ever had!

Q: What is a teardown / meticulous disassembly?

A: A teardown or meticulous disassembly is the name for the process of taking the damaged parts off of vehicles (usually bumpers, doors, fenders, hoods) in order to write a more accurate estimate. Teardowns / meticulous disassembly usually takes an hour or two depending on what type of car you have and how bad the damage is. We do this to ensure that we repair you vehicle to 100% of its pre-accident condition.

Q: What if we find damage that the adjuster did not?

A: Once a vehicle is disassembled, if additional damage is found, Driven Collision Center will document the damage by photographing the damaged/broken parts. We’ll then add the additional labor/parts onto the estimate as “supplemental repairs.” From there we will contact you, as well as the insurance company to discuss all the additional damages that were found. Typically insurance companies will either have us email the new estimate and photos to them, or they will come to the shop to re-inspect the vehicle and update their estimate (typically within 24 – 48 hours). You must authorize all repairs before we can proceed.
